Alabama Shakes Set for Two Nights at Surly Field Aug. 28th and 29th
Alabama Shakes will bring their mix of rock, blues and soul to Surly Brewing Festival Field in Minneapolis for two nights, August 28 and 29. Both shows will feature singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen as the opening act.
Formed in Athens, Alabama, Alabama Shakes made a major impact in the early 2010s with the release of their debut album, Boys & Girls. Fronted by Brittany Howard, the band developed a sound that combined the energy of rock with the feel of Southern soul and blues. Their early success was driven by songs such as “Hold On,” “I Found You” and “Hang Loose.”
The band followed that debut with Sound & Color in 2015, which expanded their sound and produced more popular tracks, including “Don’t Wanna Fight,” “Gimme All Your Love” and “Sound & Color.” After spending several years away from performing together, Alabama Shakes reunited and returned to the stage in 2025.
Minnesota fans do not have to go too far back for the band's last local appearance. Alabama Shakes played the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival at Harriet Island in St. Paul on July 18, 2025. Their return to Minnesota this summer gives fans another chance to hear songs from both of their albums in a full-length headline setting.
Hannah Cohen will open both nights at Surly Field. The shows are scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
