Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory Live at Palace Theatre 05/10
American singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory is coming to St. Paul, Minnesota and playing at the historical Palace Theatre - known for its vintage charm and killer acoustics. If you ask me, it’ll be the perfect venue to hear the chilling beauty that is Sharon Van Etten live. Sharon Van Etten as a solo artist isn’t new to the indie rock music world, before the release of her 2025 album accompanied by her band The Attachment Theory - She has released 9 additional albums ranging from her first album Because I was in Love released in 2009 to her newest album We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong released in 2022 and the first noted collaborative album with her bandmates. Since straying from her traditional indie rock solo work, her newest album Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory was born and definitely encapsulates a different kind of message. The album is one of love, loss, mortality, and a step in a new direction. It has a groovy yet moody vibe and includes songs that hold heavy meaning such as “Afterlife” that was created in lieu of Van Etten’s friendship with a fan who died young from a chronic illness. This song alone allows listeners to truly experience the emotions attached to reunion after death.
Van Etten’s live shows are known as the kind of experiences that stays with you—quietly powerful, beautifully intense, and threaded with moments that can floor you when you least expect it. From the stark honesty and cinematic sweep of her early solo work to the synth pop and post-punk feel of her more recent album, her setlist will likely cover a lot of emotional ground. And yeah, "Seventeen" live? It hits different. This tour is one that stares the weight of loss and love in the face and challenges it. The free-flowing and collaborative effort of her newest project is one that greatly differs from her previous work flow. However, the leap into new musical territory is flawlessly portrayed on this tour. Her ability to glide between vibes and speak on different weighty topics in a way that silences, yet energizes a room is definitely an experience that doesn’t come from all live shows. Definitely an experience that I personally wouldn’t recommend missing. Even if your a fan of just her older work or just her newest projects, the feeling of this tour live will be all encompassing.
Joining this tour is Love Spells, a mystical dreamworld created by 20-year-old Houston native Sir Taegen C’aion Harris. Blending airy vocals, soft percussion, and lush guitar lines, Harris crafts a sound that lives somewhere between indie rock, psychedelia, and dream pop—equal parts nostalgia and daydream. Rooted in romanticism, Love Spells explores the highs and lows of love, intimacy, and heartbreak with an emotional depth that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
Doors are at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets for this event are still available, and can be purchased here. Hope to see you there!
