Noah Kahan & Dark Humor Fused Folk Music Coming to Target Field 08/05
Noah Kahan is an American singer, songwriter, and no stranger to the new age folk music community. Kahan was born and raised in Strafford Vermont which he heavily references in interviews and his music as it built the base for his life experiences. His earliest interactions with music were learning guitar from his father at the age of 8 and uploading music to Soundcloud and Youtube where his career started. Noah Kahan musical career can be best understand in eras in which his albums were released, they represent different versions of him and how he interprets his lived experiences. I personally became a fan in 2019 when he released his debut album Busyhead which will later become not only the name of his debut album, but his mental health awareness organization, the Busy Head Project. I owe my alt pop to folk pop pipeline to the Busyhead album. Following 2019’s Busyhead era was my personal favorite release, his 202 EP Cape Elizabeth, that single handedly held my hand through the early months of the pandemic.
As the years have passed and new albums and singles have been released by Kahan, his humor and rawness have continued to be consistent and authentic. He’s continued to share his struggles and deep thoughts with his fans through his lyrics and interviews. Kahan has openly discussed his experiences with anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia. In the recent documentary released on Netflix, “Noah Kahan: Out of Body” he openly discusses his struggles with his mental health. He channels it into the music he writes, while also often making light of his struggles with jokes on social media and in concert. His recent album The Great Divide released in 2026 was highly anticipated and let me tell you it did not disappoint. It trades the angst of wanting to leave a small town for an exploration of post-fame isolation, fractured relationships, and generational trauma. With subtle hints to his previous album Stick Season released in 2022, and various versions of himself, The Great Divide was released along with his current tour to accompany the album. The tour marks one of the largest headline runs of Kahan’s career, with performances primarily at major outdoor stadiums, ballparks, and arenas across the United States and Canada from June through August 2026.
