Minneapolis Locals Bad Bad Hats Live at First Avenue

Minneapolis, MN rock band Bad Bad Hats is bringing their Psychic Reader album back on tour to celebrate the album’s 10th year. They’re set to play First Avenue in Minneapolis on February 14th. As someone who attended the Psychic Reader tour the first time around in 2015 - I’m more than psyched to hear they’ll be playing the entirety of the album, front to back.

The band formed in 2012 after many open mic nights and the lead singer Kerry Alexander sharing her demos on MySpace where she eventually found Chris Hoge who was attending Mcalester College at the time as well. Psychic Reader was then released in 2015 as their debut album with the song “Midway” as the first released single from the album. In lieu of this iconic album turning 10, Bad Bad Hats released Psychic Readings in 2025 which in my opinion delivers the perfect ode to an album I grew up on. Psychic Readings showcases all 11 songs from the first release, however their covered by a range of artists, some from Minneapolis and some are not. Some key features on Psychic Readings is Hippo Campus’s version of “Midway”, Gully Boy’s version of “Shame”, The Front Bottom’s version of “Spin”, and many more.

Kicking off the night is Chicago based indie rock band Smut who just released their third studio album Tomorrow Comes Crashing in 2025.
