Minneapolis Favorites Durry to Headline First Avenue

Minneapolis indie rock fans are in for a homegrown treat on Thursday, September 12th, when sibling duo Durry brings their rising star power to the iconic First Avenue stage. They'll be joined by fellow Twin Cities trio Vial, setting the tone with their explosive pop-punk energy.

Durry, made up of brother-sister team Austin and Taryn Durry, emerged from the uncertainty of the 2020 COVID lockdown with a sound that struck a chord far beyond the Midwest. What began as a quarantine project in their parents’ basement quickly evolved into a breakout success, thanks to their hook-filled anthems, sharp lyrical honesty, and a DIY spirit that continues to define their work. In June, they released their latest full-length album, This Movie Sucks—a punchy, heartfelt collection that further cements their place in the alt-rock landscape. With songs that tap into millennial and Gen Z angst, Durry delivers a blend of nostalgic alternative rock and fresh indie pop that feels both familiar and brand new.

Opening the night is Vial, a high-octane three-piece known for their fiery live shows and unapologetic punk attitude. Blending catchy hooks with sharp-edged riffs and a healthy dose of social commentary, Vial has become a fixture in the Twin Cities music scene—and a band to watch on a national level.

Whether you're a huge fan or just discovering these local gems, this is a show that celebrates the strength and creativity of Minnesota’s music scene. Don’t miss it.
