Bob Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Coming to Mayo Civic Center 3/24
It’s not every day that someone like Bob Dylan plays a room like the Mayo Civic Center, but that’s exactly what’s happening when his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour comes through Rochester on March 24.
Dylan has been touring behind his 2020 album Rough and Rowdy Ways for the last few years, and the sets have leaned a lot into that material with a few older songs worked in too. The thing with Dylan is that the songs rarely show up the way you expect them to. A lot of the older ones get rearranged or slowed down, sometimes almost completely reshaped, which makes the show feel less like a greatest hits run and more like watching someone still revisiting and reworking their music decades later.
It’s also one of those shows where the setting makes it interesting. The Mayo Civic Center isn’t a huge arena, so seeing someone with Dylan’s history in a room that size is pretty rare. It’s also a phone-free show, so everyone’s phones get locked away during the performance, which usually keeps the crowd pretty focused on what’s happening on stage.
For a Minnesota crowd, especially, getting to see Dylan play a show this close to home doesn’t happen very often. Grab your tickets here, and grab ‘em soon if you want them, it’s likely going to be a sold-out show!
