Yo-Yo Ma, A Master Coming To Orchestra Hall 3/3
The Minnesota Orchestra, if you haven’t been, is already such a treat, and full of astounding professional musicians. Now, however, we have a master coming to perform for us alongside the Orchestra, and if you somehow haven’t heard of Yo-Yo Ma, I implore you do a quick google on this man. Widely known as one of the best cellists in the world, with 19 Grammys to himself alone, and a plethora of other accolades, Ma has been playing since four years old, and building a community in the orchestra for as long as he’s been playing.
Conducting the Orchestra, we have Thomas Søndergård who will lead us through a beautiful night starting with William Waltons’s Scapino, and the one I am most excited for, Peter Grimes’s Britten, from The Four Sea Interludes, which are such a delight to listen to, but will also showcase some insanely technical playing on the cello for Ma.
This is going to be a rare chance to see Yo-Yo Ma play in person, and a night of technically immense music, which should be phenomenal in person.
Tickets are limited and at time of writing this, not currently on sale, but you can find information here, where the Orchestra says they will update with more information as time goes by, and tickets may become available at any time!
Ma and the Orchestra will be playing at Orchestra Hall on Tuesday March 3rd, and doors will open at 5:30, so be prepared! I hope to see you there for an absolutely wonderful night.
