The Beths Return to the Twin Cities with Hooks, Heart, and “Metal”

New Zealand indie rock favorites The Beths are coming back to the Twin Cities, playing the Palace Theater in St. Paul on Saturday, November 22. They’re touring the world right now behind their new album Straight Line Was a Lie, which dropped in late August and features the super catchy single “Metal.”

If you’ve seen The Beths before, you know they always deliver a tight, energetic show full of sharp hooks, clever lyrics, and Elizabeth Stokes’ instantly recognizable vocals. They’ve already played First Ave and the Armory here, but the Palace might be the perfect spot for them big enough to fill with their sound, but still intimate enough to feel connected to the band.

The new record leans into what The Beths do best: smart, emotional indie rock that somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time. Expect plenty of songs from Straight Line Was a Lie mixed in with older favorites like “Future Me Hates Me” and “Expert in a Dying Field.”

Opening the night is fellow Kiwi Phoebe Rings, who brings dreamy, synthy pop vibes that should set the mood perfectly before The Beths take the stage.
