Machine Girl Brings '“Psychowarrior” Live to First Avenue 4/1

Machine Girl (sometimes stylized as machin3gir1) is heading back on tour this year with a stop at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The project, led by Matt Stephenson, has built a following for its mix of digital hardcore, breakcore, punk, and noise. In an interview with Revolver Magazine, Stephenson described the project as, “fucked-up electronic punk, stating that they did not like the ’industrial’ tag for being ‘very goth, and very black and white’ considering the project ‘a lot more colorful’”.

Machine Girl first gained attention with the 2014 release of WLFGRL, which helped establish the project’s blend of punk-influenced electronic music. Since then, the project has released several albums and EPs, including MG Ultra in 2024 and PsychoWarrior: MG Ultra X in 2025. MG Ultra was released to set the stage for PsychoWarrior: MG Ultra X, “MG Ultra is the setup, It explores mind control and brings attention to the overall concepts. It’s Act 1. Sonically, it’s more rave-y, but the songs seem hopeless conceptually. Psycho Warrior was made after, and it follows as Acts 2 and 3 of the same arc. Lyrically, it’s more empowering and anthemic. We worked out a lot of the framework with bass guitar and more punk and metal elements”. In addition to studio releases, Machine Girl has also produced music for video games, including the soundtrack for Neon White. Over the past decade, the project has toured internationally and performed at clubs, theaters, and festivals.

Joining Machine Girl on the PsychoWarrior Tour is Sextile (a staple in the LA underground scene) and LustSickPuppy (a Brooklyn NY digital hardcore artist). Overall this tour is shaping out to be loud, hard hitting, and the perfect excuse to dance and mosh.

Tickets for this show can be purchased here.
