LCD Soundsystem set to return to The Armory on Aug. 18

LCD Soundsystem will make its return to Minneapolis on Tuesday, Aug. 18, with a performance at The Armory. The Brooklyn-based band Victoryland will open the show before James Murphy and company take the stage.

LCD Soundsystem was founded in Brooklyn in 2002 by musician, producer and songwriter James Murphy. What started as Murphy's recording project soon grew into a full band that blended electronic beats with rock, punk and dance music. Their style helped shape the dance-punk movement of the 2000s, and they quickly built a loyal following thanks to both their recordings and their energetic live performances.

The band's debut album introduced listeners to songs such as "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House" and "Tribulations," while later releases expanded their audience even further. Albums including Sound of Silver, This Is Happening and American Dream established LCD Soundsystem as one of the defining alternative acts of the past two decades. Their music has earned Grammy recognition, and the band continues to attract fans with concerts that mix driving rhythms, extended instrumental sections and emotional moments.

Opening the evening is Victoryland, an indie project from Brooklyn that combines melodic pop, electronic sounds and experimental influences. Their music provides a fitting start to a night centered around inventive songwriting and danceable rhythms.

The last time LCD Soundsystem performed in Minnesota was in May 2024, when they played to a packed crowd at The Armory. Fans can expect another high-energy show when the band returns to the same venue this August.

LCD Soundsystem's stop at The Armory promises an evening that blends decades of influential music with one of the band's biggest strengths its ability to turn a concert into a celebration where fans are just as much a part of the experience as the performers.
