Kurt Vile Returning To Palace Theatre June 28th

Philly's finest slacker-rock philosopher Kurt Vile is bringing the Violators to Palace Theatre, fresh off the release of his tenth studio album. Vile has spent the better part of two decades building a devoted following with his unhurried, shaggy guitar epics, both as a solo act and as a major force in the band The War On Drugs. His trademark carefree “mumble” vocal delivery over simultaneously sprawling and tight guitar-laying is something that is truly uniquely him, and he’ll be bringing his down-to-earth personal show to Saint Paul on Sunday, June 28th.

Philadelphia's been good to me, his tenth studio album, came out May 29th. Vile assembled it over a stretch from late 2023 to early 2026 in what he calls "an inspired state of flux," capturing ideas on a Zoom recorder or loop machine between stints on the road, then laying most of it down in his Mt. Airy home studio. The album is a rebellion against all the weights that can drag us down in life - on it, Vile says:

“I get the stress and the psychedelia and all those things you gotta deal with in life in general, as a musician or just as a sensitive person, and then I turn it around, crank it out on the other end as some form of positivity,”

That exact vibe is something that Vile nails live, a carefree joy that is effortlessly cast out onto the audience. As well, The Wandering Eye, a Ween tribute act featuring an impressive local roster that includes Alan Sparhawk and Tim Saxhaug, will be opening up the show, so make sure to get there early!
