Geese Bringing ‘The Getting Killed’ Tour to Amsterdam Bar and Hall

Brooklyn-based rock band Geese, not to be confused with jam band of a similar name, Goose, are not quite so easy a sound to categorize. They blend post-punk, indie rock, art punk, alt-country, and experimental rock. Their sound is unpredictable: one moment intimate, the next brazen and loud. Interested yet?

After first making waves with their 2021 debut Projector, Geese were quickly tagged as New York’s next great art-rock export — all wiry guitars, post-punk tension, and feverish instrumentals. For their next album, instead of staying in that lane, the band swerved producing their sophomore record 3D Country trading in grit for groove, stitching together alt-country twang, a some groovy beats. The result? Something that felt both human and completely unhinged — like Wilco jamming with Talking Heads at a Brooklyn dive bar. The band’s newest album Getting Killed was tracked in ten days in L.A. under producer Kenny Beats and the result is chaotic and raw with garage riffs, synth pulses, choir samples, patched together with a surprisingly tender heart at times.

Opening for Geese is Racing Mount Pleasant, a seven-piece band from Michigan. Get tickets to Geese here on Saturday October 18.
