dodie is back on the scene with her Sophomore album, Not for Lack of Trying. A follow up to her 2021 critically acclaimed Build A Problem. dodie’s album shares with us the ups and downs of the past three years in the artists life. She is very open and pensive about her struggles with depression and anxiety releasing the first single on the album, I’m Fine, honestly suggesting that she is not, or is she really, fine? An introspective album that brings it’s listener along on the journey of wandering thoughts and a poetry that puts words to universally shared fears and feelings. She invites us to figure it out with her, or at least yearn in good company. It’s Not for Lack of trying that we often feel this way and every once in a while it’s a warm hug to be invited into someone else’s vulnerably that encapsulates a similar experience. One can look forward to an evening of swaying to soft orchestral lines, warm vocals and perhaps shedding a tear of two in good company.
