Catch Death Cab For Cutie Live at Armory
Washington rock band, Death Cab for Cutie, rolls into Minneapolis on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Armory. Doors open at 6:00 PM, show starts at 7:30 PM. It's an all-ages affair, and opening the night is singer, song writer and indie rock artist Jay Som — a great pairing if you're into dreamy, bedroom-pop vibes.
Death Cab for Cutie is about to run their "I Built You A Tower" World Tour, named after their brand-new album that just dropped on ANTI- Records. The album's first single, “Riptides” has folks buzzing, and the tour is shaping up to be a big summer run with some killer support acts across different dates. Death Cab for Cutie released the albums debut single on May 16th followed by the release of their 11th studio album I Built You a Tower, released on June 5th.
Death Cab for Cutie formed back in 1997 in Bellingham, Washington — a rainy college town north of Seattle. The band is the project of singer-songwriter Ben Gibbard, whose earnest, often emotion filled lyrics and heart wrenching indie rock have made the band a staple of the genre for nearly three decades. The original lineup included Gibbard, guitarist Chris Walla, bassist Nick Harmer, and drummer Nathan Good. Now, their band name you ask? It's borrowed from a song by the 1960s British art-rock absurdist, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band — who frontman Ben Gibbard was a fan of and thought their song “Death Cab for Cutie”, would make a good band name.
Over the years, they've given us classics like Transatlanticism, Plans, and Narrow Stairs — albums that sound like the soundtrack to a long drive through the Pacific Northwest, full of longing and late-night introspection. Even with lineup changes over the years, Gibbard and Harmer have kept the band consistent, without losing that core emotional and lyrical pull. While the tour is kicking off in Minneapolis on July 10th as their first stop, I’ve heard you can expect a mix of deep cuts and the new I Built You A Tower material, plus all the hits you're hoping to hear. If you haven't grabbed tickets yet, they're available through here. Should be a good one.
