Cage the Elephant Live at the Armory
American rock band Cage the Elephant are kicking off their 2025 headlining tour in ode to their 2024 released studio album Neon Pill. Cage the Elephant started in 2006 in Bowling Green, Kentucky before relocating to London England in 2008 before the release of their self titled album. Their early music was heavily inspired by - and still kind of is - classic rock, 90s alternative, punk rock, and blues. According to the lead singer Matt Shultz, the bands name rose from an interaction the he has with man after one of their shows. The man approached the band, hugged Shultz, and kept repeating the sentence "You have to cage the elephant" over and over again. Ending a five year hiatus from releasing music, Neon Pill emerged with the single “Neon Pill” being released in January of 2024. This year, Neon Pill was nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance at the Grammys. In addition, this tour shaping out to be one of the biggest in their career with tens of cities and large venues, and a appearances at several music festivals. They were even a supporting band for Oasis on their last tour.
A consist special guest on this tour is Hey, Nothing - an emo-folk bands from Atlanta, Georgia. Their recent EP release Maine was a real break through in their career. From selling out shows to 100k+ total daily streams, and their following on Tiktok and Instagram ranging in 300k+.
While Hey, Nothing will make an appearance at all the shows on this tour, each city gets an additional supporting artists. Minneapolis will be able to see Vlad Holiday - a Romanian American singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He began his solo artist career in 2017 in NYC and his music is heavily inspired by lo-fi, bedroom pop, psych rock, jazz, and his love for vintage recording equipment.
Overall, all three of these bands are going to create such a special bill and one I’m truly excited to hear. Tickets for this show can be purchased here.
