Between the Buried and Me Bringing ‘Blue Nowhere’ To Varsity 5/30

Progressive metal titans Between the Buried and Me are bringing their Blue Nowhere tour to Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on Saturday, May 30th. The North Carolina-bred band has spent over two decades cementing themselves as one of heavy music's most forward-thinking acts, blending technical death metal, progressive rock, jazz and even country influences into sprawling, conceptual epics that have earned them a Grammy nomination and a fiercely devoted fanbase. Their last outing to Minneapolis took them to the top of Skyway when they played the Lyric a few years ago - this time they are back with a new(ish) lineup and some heavy-hitting support.

Their latest album, The Blue Nowhere, dropped in September 2025 via InsideOut Music and marks a notable new chapter for the band, as it is their first record as a four-piece following the departure of longtime guitarist Dustie Waring. Rather than a concept album like many of their previous outings, Tommy Rogers described it as more personal and reflective, calling the songs "journal entries, fleeting and introspective thoughts."

Supporting the show are New York avant-garde metal outfit Imperial Triumphant and Bay Area death metal veterans Fallujah, two incredibly great bands that are also always churning out consistently interesting and excellent material (check last year’s Imperial Triumphant album Goldstar). Doors open at 6:30pm, so don't sleep on the openers. Grab your tickets here!
