Mallrat is bringing Australian Pop to 7th Street Entry on May 17

Touring her sophomore album Light hit my face like a straight right, Mallrat is finally returning to Minneapolis in May. Having last played here in 2019, it has been a long time coming and she quickly sold out First Ave’s 7th Street Entry. Having only heard of her a few months after the last time she was in town, this day has been a long time coming for me. In these past six years, Mallrat has released two albums, countless singles, and even worked alongside New Zealand singer Benee on the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup official song, Do It Again.

Coming along as support for Mallrat is Anna Shoemaker, who also recently released her sophomore album, Should Someone Stop Her. She has been featured on numerous rising artist lists including People Magazine and Alt Press. Listening to a few songs of hers today, it’s clear she’s a perfect compliment to Mallrat’s tour and I’m excited to see her perform.

WIth the release of Mallrat’s sophomore album, she has been appearing in media across the US and world. She was featured in Rolling Stone Australia a few months ago, promoting her album as well as highlighting her opening for Kylie Minogue on tour earlier this year. She is continuing to make strides in her career and expanding her audience world wide. I personally have been waiting for this show for way too long, I have even considered flying to Australia in past years just to see her live. Having had her as my top artist on spotify the past 5 or 6 years (even made it into the top 0.005% of listeners) this show is going to mean a lot to me and to everyone who has been waiting for this day.

While this show is sold out, if you have a chance to find any resale tickets, or maybe catch her in another city while she is in the US, you definitely should.
