American Football to Perform at First Avenue August 16th
American Football are coming to First Avenue’s Mainroom stage in Minneapolis on Sunday, August 16th.
The band released LP4, its fourth self-titled album, in May. It’s American Football’s first studio record in seven years and gives the group plenty of new material to bring to the stage, including “Bad Moons” and “No Feeling.” Fans can also expect favorites from across the band’s catalog, especially its landmark 1999 debut, which includes “Never Meant,” “Honestly?” and “The Summer Ends.”
merican Football began as a University of Illinois indie rock band led by singer and guitarist Mike Kinsella. The group played only a handful of shows before breaking up after releasing its self-titled debut in 1999, but the album gradually became a cult classic and helped define Midwest emo. American Football reunited in 2014 and has since expanded its sound beyond its intricate guitars and unconventional rhythms while reaching a new generation of listeners.
They’ll be joined by Montreal indie trio Afternoon Bike Ride, whose music blends ambient textures, folk, pop and field recordings. Their latest album, Running With Scissors, pairs intimate acoustic elements with subtle electronics and flashes of indie-rock grit.a
