Summer Salt Brings Warm Weather to Minneapolis on Valentine’s Day

Even in the middle of a Minnesota winter, Summer Salt managed to bring a warm, coastal glow to the Fine Line Music Cafe on Valentine’s Day. The Minneapolis stop is part of the band’s North America tour, celebrating their newest album, Reside, released on November 7, 2025. The current tour lineup includes support from Wabie and Boyscott. The two bands have just as much of an effortless, nostalgic vibe that blends with Summer Salt’s set perfectly.

The night opened with Wabie, whose breezy, feel‑good sound immediately set a relaxed mood. Their viral 2020 hit Hey Lover! perfectly matches the sun‑drenched, surf‑pop energy Summer Salt is known for, felt especially at home here. The crowd settled into the evening easily, soaking up Wabie’s warm harmonies and upbeat charm.

Next up was Boyscott, who shifted the atmosphere slightly without breaking the mood. If Wabie evoked scenes of Southern California or Hawaii, Boyscott felt more like the Northeast coast. Airy, cool, and introspective. Despite their different regional vibes, both openers delivered the same laid‑back feeling that made the night feel cohesive from start to finish.

By the time Summer Salt stepped onto the stage, about two hours into the show, the crowd was more than ready. And although the venue wasn’t packed, the energy inside the Fine Line made it feel full. Fans greeted the band with a warm cheer as they opened with Seventeen, one of the standout tracks from their 2018 album Happy Camper.

From there, Summer Salt delivered a well‑balanced setlist that pulled from every corner of their discography. Longtime fans were treated to nostalgic favorites and hidden gems. Like Driving to Hawaii, Revvin My CJ-7, and Candy Wrappers. At the same time, newcomers (and anyone following their current tour) got a generous sampling of tracks from Reside, the band’s latest album—an album described as carrying the group’s light, summery energy while exploring new emotional textures and songwriting approaches.

By the end of the night, the Valentine’s Day show felt intimate, warm, and thoughtfully paced. Wabie and Boyscott set the stage with refreshing coastal energy, and Summer Salt tied the night together with a set that blended old and new with an easy, natural flow. Even on a chilly (albeit warmer than usual) February night in Minneapolis, the band managed to make the Fine Line feel like a summer escape, if only for a few hours. If this sounds like a show you’d like to escape to, the band still has plenty of stops on this tour. Check out their schedule here.
