Peter Bjorn And John Remind Us We Are Still Young Folks At The Fine Line

Peter Bjorn and John are one of those bands casual listeners often associate with one song “Young Folks” but many are more familiar with their work over 25+ years as a band and 9 albums that they have release in that time. Celebrating 20 years since the recording of their well know album “Writer’s Block” (technically release 19 years ago for our more precise readers), the band embarked on a anniversary US tour that brought them to the Fine Line last Friday.

Opening for them was local band Beemer, a self described “crack team of 5 seasoned Twin Cities sidemen formed to create cheeky, catchy soft rock for all generations”. Their set included their latest release “Afterparty” as well as a new song being developed “Roses are not me”

Peter Bjorn and John started with the Sitar version of ‘Young Folks” setting the mood for a smoky back lit set. They played “Writer’s Block” in reverse with a few songs from other albums added at the end. I enjoyed their set, it brought back cool songs that I had not listened to in a while and actually got me dive deeper into their other work. We may not be as young as we were when the album was released, but for a few moments, we traveled back in time.
