Minneapolis Gets Dazzling Debut of KATSEYE’S Beautiful Chaos Tour
Last night, first-time Grammy nominees, Katseye, officially kicked off their highly anticipated Beautiful Chaos Tour at The Armory in Minneapolis—and what a way to start. This was my first-ever K-pop-esque show (Katseye’s music genre isn’t K-pop), and it did not disappoint. The global girl group, already a sensation for their genre-blending mix of K-pop and dance-pop, viral choreography, and magnetic stage presence, proved they’re more than just an online phenomenon. Katseye is made up of six incredibly talented members: Yoonchae, Daniela, Lara, Sophia, Megan, and Manon, whose ages range from 17 to 23. Collectively, they represent a truly global mix of backgrounds—Filipino, Cuban, Korean, Swiss, Chinese, and Indian—which adds to their unique appeal and international fanbase.
With no opening act (a common practice in the K-pop world), I wondered how the energy would build before the show. Turns out, the crowd didn’t need any help. For an hour leading up to the performance, Katseye’s music videos played on a massive screen, and that alone had fans screaming and singing along.
When the lights finally dimmed, the group dramatically rose from the center stage—and that single moment was enough for the Armory to erupt. They launched straight into their debut track, “Debut”, a fitting choice for their touring debut and to kick off the show. From there, the energy never dipped. Highlights included an extended version of “Gabriella”, a surprise performance of their unreleased track “Internet Girl”, and a jaw-dropping extended remix of their viral hit “Gnarly”, complete with one of the best dance breaks I’ve ever seen!
The production was nothing short of spectacular. From dazzling LED visuals to a group of backup dancers, every detail felt cinematic. It was clear Katseye brought a massive crew to make this show flawless—and it paid off. The synchronization between lighting, choreography, and sound was next-level.
The audience was just as impressive. It was the most age-diverse crowd I’ve ever seen—kids, teens, parents, even older fans all united by their love for Katseye. Many were waving glowing microphone-shaped light sticks that synced with the stage lighting and changed colors to match each song, creating a sea of coordinated light that made the venue feel electric. Fans were so overwhelmed with excitement that while I was in the pit, I turned around for a second to take in the crowd and saw many fans crying during the opening number, and the emotional energy never let up.
The night wasn’t without surprises: Katseye gave a playful nod to their summer Gap ad by performing a snippet of “Milkshake” by Kelis, which had the crowd rallying. They closed the show with “Touch”, their social media smash from last summer, leaving fans on an absolute high.
Katseye’s first tour stop was more than a concert—it was a preview for what the next few years will look like for this group, which I believe will be nothing short of immense success. If last night was any indication, this group is redefining what global pop stardom looks like.
If you can, I would grab those tickets now if Katseye is coming to a city near you. You can find their tour dates here!
