Last Dinosaurs' Jam-Packed Set Brought Intimate Indie Vibe to Turf Club
Howdy there!
This was my first show at Turf Club, and its a nice little place! I honestly had rushed to the venue after work, hadn’t even had a bite to eat, and i was pleasantly surprised with the place having food! (by the way, their fries are AWESOME).
Down to the show though, New York duo Elmjack brought a really nice laidback vibe instantly laying down some really juicy bass that got the beat rocking and people swaying, while the vocalist had some RnB style verses layered ver the top.
While not my usual cup of tea, i actually ended up buying a vinyl from them just because it was such a fun set and the music is such that i’d love to put it on at a party and have people just relazing to some good beats!
There was also some good crwod interaction, he was able to get everyone involved with their flashlights, and when it came time for a lyric of “girl down in Minnesota” the crowd erupted which was a fun little burst there.
Overall very fun, and i would love to see them again!
Last Dinosaurs!
Immediately coming out to applause, the highly anticipated group came out rocking right away, and the crowd didn’t disappoint either!
The crowd was immediately jumping, and honestly, this was a hard crowd to get through for photos, and the smaller venue, packed as it was, didn’t help a whole lot either! I’d love to see this band at a slightly larger venue next time they roll through for sure.
The band was celebrating the 10th anniversary tour of their album WELLNESS, playing it in its entirety, and every song hit just right. The vocalist had a great time interacting with the crowd, letting us know that he was already super impressed with the energy in the room and that he was also excited!
Breezing through the album in what honestly felt like a shorter show than expected, the group had a ton of interaction, with crowd chanting songs back, semi-moshpits, and just awesome indie vibes going throughout. Very reminiscent of a two-door cinema club show!
The encore, however, was my favorite part! They came back out and played this super mashup of a ton of different songs they said they loved, starting out with Modjo’s Lady, Hear Me Tonight, went in with some Michael Jackson, and even went into Stardust’s Music Feels Better With You, ending with Junior Senior’s Move Your Feet. Notably, at the end, they played the skipped over Apollo from the album, which is arguably one of their most popular songs, and man, the crowd went nuts (and so did I), and it was the perfect ending to the night. The band thanked everyone and also, awesomely assured us that they will be coming back to Minnesota on their next run because of how awesome tonight was!
I’m personally very excited for their next comeback around, and hope it’s at a bigger venue, with a bigger stage for them to move around on more, get more interaction with, and really pull fans into their show. While this was specifically an album tour, they really would rock, just showcasing their discography, and they’re such a fun band to just groove to. Catch ‘em on the next go if you can!
