Megan Moroney Packs the Armory on her Am I Okay? Tour

Megan Moroney is a country artist from Savannah, Georgia, who is currently touring her sophomore album, Am I Okay?. After a weeklong break, Megan Moroney hits the stage again in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the Armory. Megan’s Am I Okay? tour has been nothing short of entertaining. She combines such fun elements of country, pop, and Indie while incorporating a nice mix of sad songs, love songs, and of course, songs you can dance to. The show opened with an old-timey film montage of the moon and space. This may seem random, but Megan opens her show with her song, Man on the Moon. Right before Megan comes on stage, there is a ten-second countdown, emulating the theme of space, referring to a rocket launch, while also getting the crowd riled up for her entrance.

One thing that Megan has down pat is her brand, and it shows in such an incredible way in the show. She’s coined herself a “professional emo cowgirl” and is known for wearing blue and sequins on this tour. And her fans did not disappoint with their outfits either. Everyone was wearing blue, sequins, and of course, cowboy boots and hats. Megan also took time in between songs to interact with the audience and make sure everyone was having a good time. She seemed to be having a great time herself.

The last time she was in Minneapolis was about a year ago, and that was when she was opening for Kenny Chesney, a very well-known country artist. Megan’s own opener, Charlie Worsham, was a great start to the show. He even came back to the merch stand after Megan came on and was interacting with fans. After her first couple of songs, Megan had a little outfit change to keep the night going. This gave her band a moment to have their own solos and show off a little. When Megan came back on stage, she performed her viral hit, I’m Not Pretty, a song about catching her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend stalking her on social media. The crowd went crazy with this one, and I can understand why. It has such a catchy melody and specific backstory to it.

I have been to a good number of concerts, but outside of stadiums, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a crowd as loud as I did last night. Megan even said herself mid song, “Wow, you guys are really loud!”. Overall, the entirety of the show brought great energy, and if Megan and her band are coming to a town near you for the Am I Okay? tour, I would highly recommend going! This was actually my first country concert outside of small town fairs, and it soared above my expectations! You'd better take advantage of seeing Megan Moroney before she’s touring stadiums, because it seems to be heading that direction for her, and it’s well deserved.
